Rosalynn Apartments, named for our honorary chair – former First Lady Rosalynn Carter – is located in Chamblee, close to Peachtree DeKalb Airport. The apartments were built in 2000 and are strategically located near DeKalb Mental Health Center.

The community building, with laundry facilities and a computer area, open to a quiet courtyard enclosed by 56 apartments. This apartment community is entirely designated to housing homeless single adults with chronic mental illness.

Funding for Rosalynn Apartments came from City of Atlanta HOPWA, State Department of Community Affairs HOME and Housing Trust Fund for the Homeless. Rental assistance is provided through Shelter Plus Care and DeKalb County Section 8.

The housing and services provided here are geared towards residents with a higher level of independence. Most residents are employed, volunteering or participating in day programs. Each resident has access to the onsite services, including case management, medication management and connection to community resources.
