3Keys Staff Spotlight: Natasha Gilbert, Housing Program Manager

No two days look the same for Natasha—and that’s exactly why she loves her job.

As a Housing Program Manager at Welcome House, Natasha’s work is shaped by both structure and unpredictability. She may start her day planning emails, coordinating services, and checking in with residents, only to pivot hours later to respond to an unexpected donation, a client crisis, or a last-minute need. “No task is too big or too small,” she says. “It’s all about helping people get what they need so they can begin rebuilding their lives.”

Natasha joined Welcome House in October 2023, bringing with her a background in education and years of experience working with families experiencing homelessness. Early in her career, much of her work focused on helping families find housing – a process that often made it difficult to address deeper needs while the urgency of securing a place to live remained unmet.

Working with residents who are already housed has shifted her perspective. “Once housing is in place,” she explains, “people can finally focus on their goals – their health, their relationships, their future.” That stability opens the door to true self-sufficiency.

One of the most meaningful parts of Natasha’s role is welcoming new residents home. Handing someone their keys – especially someone who has been unhoused for years – is a moment she never takes lightly. “It’s not just a place to stay,” she says. “It’s a new beginning.”

She’s also witnessed the power of trust firsthand. Natasha recalls working with a resident who initially had no access to medical or mental health care. Through months of relationship-building, consistent follow-through, and coordination with providers, the resident began attending appointments, reconnecting with family, and prioritizing their well-being. Today, they are healthier, more stable, and moving forward with confidence.

“These moments show how vital this work really is,” Natasha says. “So many residents have lost trust in systems and people. Building rapport and honoring that trust can change everything.”

For Natasha, the work at Welcome House isn’t just a job – it’s a commitment to walking alongside people as they begin again. And in the midst of the unpredictable days, that purpose remains constant.
