3Keys Staff Spotlight: Mariah Dumas, Property Manager at Rosalynn House, an Affordable Housing Complex in Atlanta for Those Experiencing Homelessness

For Mariah Dumas, every day at 3Keys is different, but maintaining relationships with the residents is a constant – and her favorite part of the job.

As the Property Manager at Rosalynn House, Mariah oversees the day-to-day operations of the community, ensuring that residents feel supported and that the property runs smoothly. From managing rent payments and resolving maintenance issues to answering resident questions and lending a listening ear, Mariah truly does it all.

She also assists at Welcome House as an Assistant Community Manager and Leasing Agent, bringing her steady presence and problem-solving mindset wherever she’s needed.

“There’s always something new every day,” Mariah shared. “Whether it’s the residents or the property itself, there’s never a dull moment—and that’s what I enjoy most.”

Growing with 3Keys

Mariah joined 3Keys nearly three years ago, starting at the front desk at Welcome House. Since then, she has steadily grown into roles with increasing responsibility – transitioning to Leasing Agent and, in December 2024, stepping into her current role as Property Manager.

During her time, she has grown professionally and personally, deepening her understanding of the population 3Keys serves.

“I’ve learned so much,” she said. “This role helped me truly understand our residents and the importance of the work we do. I’ve grown into this position, and I’m proud of how far I’ve come—but I’m also excited to keep striving and learning.”

Finding Meaning in Relationships

For Mariah, the most meaningful part of her job is the relationships she’s built with residents over time.

“The residents are my favorite part,” she said with a smile. “They tell me all the time that I’m the best manager they’ve had, and that really means a lot. They ask where I am if I’m not in, they’re happy to see me. It makes me feel appreciated and reminds me why I love coming to work every day.”

Those relationships are built on trust, patience, and consistency – especially when working with residents who have experienced homelessness and live with mental health challenges. Mariah emphasized how important it is to truly listen and meet people where they are.

“It goes a long way when you take the time to hear people out and understand where they’ve come from,” she said. “You learn a lot of patience in this work – but you also see how much it matters.”

Seeing Transformation Firsthand

One resident’s journey stands out to Mariah as a powerful example of what supportive housing can make possible. When Mariah first met JB in 2023, he was struggling – disengaged, not taking his medication, and facing serious challenges to his health and stability.

Over time, with support from the wraparound support services provided by 3Keys, Mariah witnessed a complete transformation.

“Now he’s healthy, he’s taking his medication, he’s participating in groups, and he’s doing his own thing,” she said. “I’ve seen how far he’s come, and every time I see him now, he’s smiling, saying hello. That means everything.”

Stories like this reinforce why Mariah is so passionate about her work.

Beyond Rosalynn Apartments

Mariah credits the 3Keys’ team for creating an environment where both staff and residents feel supported.

“We have a really great team,” she said. “Everyone knows the work we do, everyone handles it with care, and we all truly enjoy being here. The residents look forward to seeing us every day – and that makes a difference.”

Outside of work, Mariah often finds herself explaining what 3Keys does to friends and family because many people recognize the properties, but not always the organization behind them.

“I love telling people about my job,” she said. “Once I explain the population we serve and the mental health component of the work, they really understand why it matters.”

For Mariah, that understanding – and the ability to help people move toward greater stability and independence – is what makes the job so rewarding.

“I enjoy my job. I love what I do. And I love coming to work every day.”
