Cheers for a Cause is presented by the following sponsors:

3Keys serves approximately 500 residents a year through 477 permanent supportive housing units across six properties in Fulton and DeKalb counties, where residents receive personalized, wraparound support services on their path to stability. These essential services include case management, service coordination, peer support, life skills training, counseling, eligibility assistance, transportation aid, food assistance, and referrals to local providers.

By integrating affordable housing with healthcare and customized support, 3Keys removes critical barriers and helps residents achieve lasting success.

Each year, 3Keys measures progress against two key agency goals:

  • That more than 90% of residents remain stably housed for one year or longer with the support of housing and onsite services. Last year, this was 93%.
  • That approximately 80% of residents – about 320 of 400 residents – engage with onsite supportive services. In 2025, this was 83%.

3Keys serves single adults, veterans, and citizens over the age of 18 from diverse racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds. Many residents face dual diagnoses of mental illness and substance use disorders, developmental disabilities, and/or HIV/AIDS. Often arriving from hospitals, behavioral health institutions, emergency shelters, correctional facilities, or the streets, these individuals benefit from 3Keys’ comprehensive programming, which integrates housing, support, and services.

Cheers for a Cause celebrates 3Keys’ supporters and benefits 3Keys’ programming and operational costs. Learn more about the event and sponsorships at www.the3keys.org/cheers. View photos from the 2025 Cheers for a Cause here.

3Keys Staff Spotlight: Scott Walker, President and CEO https://www.the3keys.org/3keys-staff-spotlight-scott-walker-president-and-ceo/ Mon, 14 Sep 2026 10:37:35 +0000 https://www.the3keys.org/?p=4963 At 3Keys, every resident has a story. Behind those stories is a team of people working every day to ensure our residents have the housing, support, and opportunities they need to thrive. Leading that work is President & CEO Scott Walker, whose lifelong commitment to serving others has shaped not only his career, but the culture at 3Keys.

For Scott, the mission of 3Keys is deeply personal.

Scott understands firsthand the importance of stability, support, and having people who believe in you. This keen awareness helped shape a career spanning more than 30 years in social work, affordable housing, and homelessness services, where he has dedicated himself to helping people overcome barriers and build better futures.

“My goal is to work collectively to impact the lives of the individuals 3Keys serves,” Scott says. “To ensure their experience is positive and everyone has a chance to win.”

A Career Built on Service

Scott’s path to leadership began at the State University of New York (SUNY) Stony Brook, where he earned both his Bachelor’s degree and his Master of Social Work. As a student-athlete, he played basketball while serving as a graduate assistant – a unique opportunity that allowed him to pursue graduate school while developing invaluable relationships with mentors who helped shape his future.

Those mentors encouraged him to think beyond traditional social work roles and embrace the administrative and leadership side of the profession.

“I met people who saw more in me than I saw in myself,” Scott reflects. “They helped me understand that social work is a profession that deserves respect, and they encouraged me to keep learning and preparing for leadership.”

That preparation led Scott through a remarkable career serving in community social work, public education, housing development for people with disabilities, medicaid services, affordable housing planning, and nonprofit leadership. Along the way, he has worked with New York State Government, the New York City Board of Education, Georgia State Government, the City of Atlanta, and several nonprofit housing organizations before joining 3Keys as President & CEO in 2021.

As part of the Titan 100 Day of Service, Scott volunteered at the Gateway Center to prep meals for individuals experiencing homeless.

No Two Days Are Ever the Same

Ask Scott what a typical day looks like, and he’ll tell you there really isn’t one.

While his calendar is often packed with meetings, strategic planning, partnership discussions, and unexpected challenges, he intentionally makes time to visit each 3Keys property, connect with staff, and spend time with residents.

“No day is the same,” he says. “You have to stay flexible.”

Those moments with residents are what energize him most.

“Being around the residents keeps me connected and allows me to be positive,” Scott says. “It’s one of the best parts of my job.”

Whether he’s checking in on a property, brainstorming new partnerships, or responding to an unexpected issue, Scott believes staying connected to the people at the heart of the mission helps guide every decision.

Turning Vision Into Reality

While Scott enjoys interacting with residents, he also loves transforming ideas into action.

“I enjoy taking opportunities, putting pen to paper, and then seeing those ideas come to life,” he says.

That vision has helped 3Keys expand its impact in recent years.

Among the accomplishments Scott is most proud of is the successful completion of Phase I of the O’Hern House rehabilitation project. After receiving $5.4 million in American Rescue Plan (ARPA) funding from the Georgia Governor’s Office of Planning & Budget (OPB), the team recognized the project required additional investment. Rather than scaling back their vision, they strategically divided the work into two phases.

Scott credits the relationships he has built throughout his career with helping position 3Keys to secure the resources needed to complete O’Hern House Phase II. Phase II is slated to begin in late 2026 and the anticipated completion date is mid-2027.

He’s equally proud of building 3Keys’ supportive services team, recognizing that stable housing alone isn’t enough.

“You can do housing, but you also have to provide the supportive services,” Scott says. “They go hand in hand, and they’re incredibly impactful for our residents.”

Investing in People

Scott’s passion extends beyond residents. Developing staff is one of the most rewarding parts of his work.

He enjoys mentoring employees, helping them discover new opportunities, and supporting their professional growth – whether their future is at 3Keys or elsewhere.

That investment in people is reflected throughout the organization, where many employees have built long careers serving residents. Their longevity speaks to the supportive culture Scott strives to foster every day.

Several 3Keys team members completed the Georgia Supportive Housing Institute course in January 2026.

Leading by Example

Although Scott has held executive leadership positions throughout his career, becoming President & CEO of 3Keys represented the opportunity he had aspired toward for years.

With that opportunity comes a responsibility that he takes seriously.

“I don’t take this position lightly,” he says. “My goal is to have an organization that is relevant, that is doing really impactful things in this space, while continuing to think about what’s next and how we can be even better.”

His leadership philosophy is simple: never ask someone to do something you’re not willing to do yourself.

“I try to lead by example,” Scott says. “I don’t ask staff to do anything that I’m not willing to do. That’s important when you’re a leader.”

It’s an approach that has helped shape a collaborative culture built on trust, accountability, and shared purpose.

A Mission That Never Stops

Throughout his career, Scott has witnessed the realities of homelessness not only through his work, but within his own extended family. Those experiences have reinforced his belief that everyone deserves compassion, dignity, and the opportunity to rebuild their lives.

Whether helping a family member find stability or leading an organization that serves hundreds of residents each year, Scott approaches every situation with the same mindset: lean in and help where you can.

That commitment is what continues to guide his leadership at 3Keys.

As the organization grows, expands supportive services, and develops new housing opportunities, Scott remains focused on creating a future where more individuals have access to the stable housing and comprehensive support they need to thrive.

Because for Scott Walker, ending homelessness isn’t simply a profession – it’s a purpose.

3Keys Property Spotlight: Presley Woods, a Permanent Supportive Housing Apartment Complex in the Kirkwood Neighborhood https://www.the3keys.org/3keys-property-spotlight-presley-woods-a-permanent-supportive-housing-apartment-complex-in-the-kirkwood-neighborhood/ Thu, 27 Aug 2026 22:36:33 +0000 https://www.the3keys.org/?p=4940 Nestled in Atlanta’s Kirkwood neighborhood, Presley Woods is one of 3Keys’ six properties helping people transition out of homelessness. Presley Woods specifically provides permanent supportive housing for adults with mental health disabilities who have lower or no incomes.

Consisting of 40 studio apartments, the community surrounds a quiet, tree-shaded courtyard with a partially covered patio, creating a peaceful common area for residents.

Inside the main building, residents have access to amenities that support everyday life and community, including laundry facilities, a reading room, gym and recreation room.

More than 500 community members in Atlanta are served by 3Keys each year as we work together to find their path out of homelessness. With our permanent supportive housing model, our staff meets individuals where they are to provide personalized, wraparound services.

Through this holistic approach, staff and partners provide essential services, including case management, service coordination, peer support, life skills training, counseling, eligibility assistance, transportation aid, food assistance, and referrals to local providers. By integrating affordable housing with healthcare and customized support, 3Keys removes critical barriers and helps residents achieve lasting success.

The story of Ms. Cathy illustrates the importance of the permanent supportive housing model:

Ms. Cathy became a resident of Presley Woods four years ago, and she is so proud of the fact that she has her own place and that she has managed it so well despite challenges. Ms. Cathy is 71 years young, and she has a wonderfully positive attitude despite having survived many hardships, including the loss of an adult son.

While with 3Keys, Ms. Cathy has made marked progress on all of her goals. She is an active participant of our onsite partner, PMC. The PMC team assists with various groups and clinical needs. Ms. Cathy attends all of her scheduled appointments, follows her provider’s recommendations and remains compliant with treatment needs.

Ms. Cathy is committed to attending her on 1:1’s with her onsite supportive housing specialist, and she remains open and engaged in those meetings. She is a pro at managing chronic health conditions and has demonstrated a strong commitment to maintaining her stability.

Presley Wood resident Cathy

Ms. Cathy is a four-year resident of Presley Woods and proof of the power of permanent supportive housing.

According to the National Alliance to End Homelessness, permanent supportive housing is “a cost-effective solution to homelessness for those with the most severe health, mental health, and substance abuse challenges.”

3Keys consistently maintains a housing stability rate of 85% or higher – exceeding HUD’s 80% benchmark. In 2025, 93% of residents remained stably housed after two years. By increasing staffing and services across all properties, we aim to sustain and potentially surpass this high standard of housing stability.

3Keys serves single adults, veterans, and returning citizens over the age of 18 from diverse racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds. Many residents face dual diagnoses of mental illness and substance use disorders, developmental disabilities, and/or HIV/AIDS. Often arriving from hospitals, behavioral health institutions, emergency shelters, correctional facilities, or the streets, these individuals benefit from 3Keys’ comprehensive programming.

More Than an Apartment: How 3Keys Onboards New Residents Into Permanent Supportive Housing https://www.the3keys.org/more-than-an-apartment-how-3keys-onboards-new-residents-into-permanent-supportive-housing/ Tue, 25 Aug 2026 16:32:51 +0000 https://www.the3keys.org/?p=4937 For many people experiencing chronic homelessness, receiving the keys to an apartment is a life-changing milestone. But at 3Keys, housing is just the beginning.

A safe, stable home creates the foundation for healing, growth, and independence, but lasting success requires more than four walls and a roof. That’s why every resident who moves into a 3Keys permanent supportive housing community is welcomed into a comprehensive support system designed to meet their unique needs and help them achieve their personal goals.

Starting with the Individual

From the moment a new resident arrives, they are connected with 3Keys’ on-site supportive services team, including case managers, peer support specialists, and property management staff. Together, they begin building a relationship centered on trust, respect, and collaboration.

Each resident participates in a comprehensive assessment that looks beyond immediate housing needs to understand their strengths, challenges, health, and goals. This information helps ensure every resident receives services tailored specifically to them – not a one-size-fits-all approach.

The assessment also incorporates relevant information from previous service providers when available, helping the 3Keys team understand each resident’s journey and avoid unnecessary repetition as they begin this new chapter.

Creating a Roadmap for Success

Following the assessment, residents work alongside their support services team and property manager to create an Individual Service Plan (ISP).

The ISP serves as a personalized roadmap that identifies the supports, resources, and activities needed to help each resident achieve the goals that matter most to them. Those goals may include improving physical or behavioral health, securing employment, strengthening financial stability, reconnecting with family, or simply building the skills and confidence needed to maintain stable housing.

Residents are active partners in creating and updating their plans, rather than having goals assigned to them.

Support That Continues After Move-In

Moving into permanent housing is an important first step, but meaningful change happens over time.

Residents have convenient access to a wide range of on-site behavioral health supportive services, including:

  • Case management
  • Peer support
  • Employment assistance
  • Financial literacy education
  • Basic needs and food assistance
  • Health screenings
  • Medication monitoring
  • Daily living skills support
  • Connections to community resources

Residents meet with supportive services team members several times each month to review progress, celebrate achievements, and update their Individual Service Plan as their needs and goals evolve.

If someone begins experiencing setbacks or new challenges, the team quickly works alongside them to identify barriers, adjust their support plan, and reconnect them with resources that can help them regain stability.

This ongoing, client-centered approach empowers residents to build confidence, strengthen independence, and successfully transition to living in a community setting while preventing future episodes of homelessness.

Measuring Progress to Better Serve Residents

Providing quality supportive services also means continuously evaluating what works.

3Keys uses Georgia’s Homeless Management Information System (HMIS), known as ClientTrack, to securely document resident information and measure important outcomes such as housing stability, length of stay, income growth, and service utilization. The system also helps track health-related factors that may impact a resident’s progress, allowing support teams to provide more informed, coordinated care.

In addition, service providers utilize reporting systems through the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) to monitor resident progress and program outcomes.

These tools allow 3Keys to evaluate trends, measure performance, and continuously improve services based on real-world results. The data also supports accountability to community partners and funders while ensuring residents receive the highest quality care possible.

Housing Plus Support Changes Lives

At 3Keys, permanent supportive housing is built on a simple but powerful belief: everyone deserves not only a place to live, but the opportunity to thrive.

By combining affordable housing with individualized, on-site supportive services, 3Keys helps residents build the skills, confidence, and stability needed to create lasting change. Every assessment, every conversation, and every personalized service plan is part of a larger commitment to helping people move beyond homelessness and toward a healthier, more independent future.

Atlanta Affordable Housing Network Partner Spotlight: Mercy Care Atlanta https://www.the3keys.org/atlanta-affordable-housing-network-partner-spotlight-mercy-care-atlanta/ Thu, 30 Jul 2026 23:00:48 +0000 https://www.the3keys.org/?p=4921 Our work to end chronic homelessness in Atlanta would not be possible without a host of partners also working in permanent supportive housing. For individuals who have experienced homelessness repeatedly, many also face complex physical health conditions, mental illness, substance use disorders, and other challenges that require ongoing, compassionate care.

Our collaboration with Mercy Care Atlanta breaks down barriers that too often prevent people from receiving the care they need to live healthy, independent lives.

As one of Atlanta’s leading permanent supportive housing providers, 3Keys combines affordable housing with wraparound supportive services designed to help residents maintain housing stability and improve their quality of life. Case managers work closely with each resident to identify individual goals and connect them with the resources needed to achieve them.

Mercy Care Atlanta provides some of the most valuable resources available to our clients.

When a resident needs clinical support, 3Keys can refer them to Mercy Care for a broad range of services, including:

  • Primary medical care
  • Mental health care and psychiatry
  • Outpatient substance use treatment
  • Dental care
  • Ongoing care coordination and other supportive health services

Many people transitioning out of homelessness have no insurance, limited income, or no income at all. These barriers often lead to untreated medical conditions, worsening mental health, and unnecessary emergency room visits.

Residents can be referred for care regardless of their income or insurance status, ensuring they receive timely, caring treatment when they need it most. Mercy Care’s commitment to serving everyone – regardless of their ability to pay – aligns closely with our belief that every person deserves the opportunity to build a healthier future.

Our partnership also extends to our annual fundraising party, Cheers for a Cause, which Mercy Care Atlanta has generously sponsored in previous years.

Ending chronic homelessness takes a network of partners working together to address the interconnected challenges that can keep people from achieving long-term stability.

Together, 3Keys and Mercy Care demonstrate what is possible when housing and healthcare providers collaborate around a shared mission: improved physical health, better mental health, and access to recovery services that contribute to greater independence and a higher quality of life.

3Keys Property Spotlight: Phoenix House, a Permanent Supportive Housing Complex in Southwest Atlanta https://www.the3keys.org/3keys-property-spotlight-phoenix-house-a-permanent-supportive-housing-complex-in-southwest-atlanta/ Mon, 06 Jul 2026 20:32:10 +0000 https://www.the3keys.org/?p=4915 At 3Keys, permanent supportive housing provides a stable foundation where individuals who have experienced chronic homelessness can access the support, services, and community connections needed to maintain long-term housing stability.

One example of this work is Phoenix House, a permanent supportive housing community located just south of downtown Atlanta in the Capitol View neighborhood at 1296 Murphy Avenue, SW. Conveniently situated near the Oakland City MARTA Station and the Atlanta Beltline, the property offers residents access to transportation, healthcare, employment opportunities, and other essential community resources.

Phoenix House serves individuals living with highly service-dependent mental illness who have also experienced chronic homelessness. It breaks the cycle for many residents who have spent years cycling between homelessness, emergency rooms, institutional settings, shelters, or temporary housing situations.

The property includes 69 affordable apartment homes that provide residents with independent living opportunities in a structured and supportive environment. Phoenix House helps fill an important gap in Atlanta’s housing continuum of care by offering an alternative to institutional care or group homes while still ensuring residents have access to consistent onsite support.

Residents gather for a BBQ under the pavilion at Phoenix House in Atlanta

3Keys manages both the rental assistance and a comprehensive onsite services program at the property. Residents are connected to services tailored to their individual needs, which may include mental health support, case management, life skills development, benefits assistance, and community-building activities, like cookouts in the common greenspace and pavilion. This coordinated approach helps residents maintain housing stability while supporting greater independence and overall well-being.

From 2016 to 2017, 3Keys collaborated with Tapestry Development Group on redeveloping the property. The $10.5 million project was a combination of new construction and rehabilitation. Tapestry helped secure equity from 9% Low Income Housing Tax Credits, a permanent loan from Invest Atlanta, and Project-Based Rental Assistance from the Atlanta Housing Authority.

Permanent supportive housing models like Phoenix House have proven effective in helping individuals experiencing chronic homelessness achieve long-term stability. By combining affordable housing with ongoing supportive services, communities can reduce barriers to housing retention and create pathways toward improved health and quality of life.

Phoenix House reflects the broader mission of 3Keys: creating safe, stable, and service-enriched housing opportunities that help individuals move beyond homelessness and remain rooted in their communities.

3Keys Property Spotlight: A Way Home at Aspen Court Apartments https://www.the3keys.org/3keys-property-spotlight-a-way-home-at-aspen-court-apartments/ Thu, 11 Jun 2026 17:10:04 +0000 https://www.the3keys.org/?p=4906 At The 3Keys, permanent supportive housing is designed to provide more than a place to live. Across six properties in Atlanta, residents have access to stable housing paired with services and community connections that support long-term well-being. One of those programs is A Way Home program at Aspen Court Apartments in southwest Atlanta.

Located at 1700 Stanton Road, SW, A Way Home includes 27 scattered-site apartments within the Aspen Court Apartment complex. The program primarily serves individuals living with mental health disabilities who have experienced chronic homelessness.

Residents receive ongoing support from both their clinical care providers and 3Keys staff, including supportive services and case management. These services help residents maintain housing stability while working toward personal goals, improving daily living skills, and building stronger connections within the community.

A Way Home residents have opportunities to participate in weekly walking groups, monthly housing meetings, and other community activities that encourage engagement and connection. Reduced-price memberships at the local YMCA also help residents stay active and prioritize wellness. With a library, the Y recreation center, and grocery stores all within a couple of miles, residents are able to access important resources close to home.

The apartment complex is also located on a MARTA bus line.

For many residents, the sense of community at Aspen Court plays an important role in their quality of life. Stable housing combined with consistent support creates an environment where individuals can focus on recovery, independence, and long-term stability.

One resident, CC, has made significant progress during her time at Adams House. After experiencing chronic homelessness and challenges related to substance use, she has engaged in treatment and achieved extended periods of sobriety. With stable housing in place, her Grady ACT (Assertive Community Treatment) team has been able to provide consistent, wraparound care addressing her mental health, physical health, and substance use needs.

Stories like CC’s reflect the impact of permanent supportive housing when housing and services work together. Together, we can end chronic homelessness in Atlanta.

Atlanta’s 2026 Point-in-Time Count Shows Slight Increase in Homelessness, Coupled With Increased Stability https://www.the3keys.org/atlantas-2026-point-in-time-count-shows-slight-increase-in-homelessness-coupled-with-increased-stability/ Mon, 08 Jun 2026 22:38:56 +0000 https://www.the3keys.org/?p=4894 Partners for HOME recently published the results of the City of Atlanta’s Point-in-Time Count for 2026. The data reflects ever-growing affordability challenges, with a 6% increase in the homeless population over 2025. With our mission to end chronic homelessness* in Atlanta, we are tuned into the fact that the number of people chronically experiencing homelessness  increased by 4% in 2026. This underscores the significance and necessity of our work providing permanent supportive housing (PSH) and wraparound services for individuals facing the most persistent challenges.

The PIT Count also showed that 40% of people were experiencing homelessness for the first time. However, more households sought out support services and transitioned into stable conditions. Due to the Downtown Rising program, households moved into stability in roughly half the time as the rest of the metro Atlanta area.

High-level stats revealed in Atlanta’s PIT Count:

  • There was a 4.7% increase in annual inflow, or the number of households experiencing homelessness year-over-year
  • 490 people were housed through Downtown Rising May 2025 through May 2026
  • It took 48 days from a household reaching out for support to being sited in housing in the Downtown Rising program vs. 108 days across Atlanta as a whole
  • There was a 3% increase in unsheltered homelessness
  • There was a 7% increase in sheltered homelessness
  • Unhoused veterans decreased by 13% year-over-year (for a total of 241 in the Atlanta PIT Count)

Additional context from the report:

Increased local investment in coordinated outreach, housing, and support services has been critical in managing the pace of people entering and exiting homelessness, but the rate of need across the city continues to grow.

The 2026 PIT Count reflects a growing housing affordability challenge across Atlanta, while also showing the impact of targeted investments through Atlanta Rising, the city’s most comprehensive effort to reduce unsheltered homelessness.

A deeper look at inflow suggests that more Atlanta households are struggling to keep up with the cost of living. Even though rent increases have slowed somewhat, many families are still feeling the impact of years of rising housing costs while also paying more for groceries, utilities, transportation and healthcare. For many renters, wages have not kept pace with the cost of living.

Eviction trends show similar pressure. Since February 2025, eviction data shows higher than normal filing activity across many Atlanta neighborhoods. Nearly half of the City of Atlanta census tracts are experiencing higher than normal eviction filings than in 2023-2024.

Five members of 3Keys participated in the 2026 Point-in-Time Count that encompassed Atlanta’s 243 neighborhoods. You can read about their experience in this behind-the-scenes look into 3Keys’ staff volunteering for the Night Count.

More information can also be found on Partners for HOME’s website.

* U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) defines chronically homeless as:

  • An individual with a disability who:
    • Lives in a place not meant for human habitation, a safe haven or emergency shelter; and
    • Has been homeless in these conditions for:
    • 12 consecutive months, or
    • 4+ occasions in the past 3 years totaling 12 months, with breaks of at least 7 nights between episodes.
  • Also includes:
    • Those meeting the above criteria before entering an institution (e.g., jail, treatment facility, hospital) for under 90 days.
    • Families where the adult or minor head of household meets the criteria, regardless of changes in family composition.

3Keys’ 2025 Annual Report Now Available, Highlights Collaborative Work and Significant Milestones https://www.the3keys.org/3keys-2025-annual-report-now-available-highlights-collaborative-work-and-significant-milestones/ Wed, 29 Apr 2026 21:59:03 +0000 https://www.the3keys.org/?p=4874 The latest chapter in the work of The 3Keys is here! Our 2025 annual report is now available, offering an insightful look at how housing, services, and community come together in the mission to end chronic homelessness in Atlanta. The report notes our year in numbers and highlights moments of impact in 2025, including:

  • William Josef Foundation and DCA Grants: 3Keys was awarded $150,000 from the William Josef Foundation and $250,000 in ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) funds from Georgia’s Department of Community Affairs to bolster supportive services across its portfolio.

  • O’Hern House Rehab: On September 24, 3Keys held a press conference to celebrate the groundbreaking for the rehabilitation of O’Hern House, a nearly 120-year-old historic building, supported by a $5.4 million grant award from the Governor’s Office of Planning and Budget (OPB). The project will preserve and upgrade 76 units that provide housing for individuals diagnosed with mental illness, including those with substance use disorders.

  • Welcome House Collaboration: In July, Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens visited Welcome House following 3Keys’ agreement with the City to provide 19 dedicated beds as part of a Rapid Re-Housing effort to support unsheltered individuals living at the Wheat Street Encampment. As a result of this initiative, 18 individuals remain stably housed at Welcome House.

  • Enterprise Community Leadership Council: Scott was invited to represent 3Keys on Enterprise’s Executive Community Leadership Council (ECLC), a national board that brings together experienced affordable housing leaders and partners from across the country to share expertise and help drive meaningful change.

  • Board leadership transfer and recognition: After nearly 15 years serving as the Chair of the Board, David Lambrecht transitioned leadership to Bona Allen. David will continue to serve on the board as a member.

Stan Jones, the inaugural Chairperson of Project Interconnections (3Keys’ prior name), who helmed the first-ever board meeting in January 1988, retired from his distinguished legal career and will continue in his role as a board member. His experience working on mental health issues for Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter in both Washington and Atlanta led to his founding role at 3Keys.

  • Georgia Supportive Housing Institute Cohort: In the fall of 2025, 3Keys was selected to participate in the second Georgia Supportive Housing Institute (SHI) Cohort, a signature Corporation for Supportive Housing (CSH) program designed to enhance affordable and supportive housing developments throughout the state. Its rigorous curriculum covers all facets of multi-family property development including; design concepts, service delivery, funding procurement, and ongoing operation.

  • Point-in-Time Count 2025: The City of Atlanta conducted its annual Point-in-Time Count overnight in January of 2025. 3Keys joined volunteers as they spread out across the city to conduct surveys, assessments, and distributed essential items such as: warm clothing, hygiene products, and food. In 2025, Scott, Diane, Keith, and Stephanie all participated.

  • Financial Keys Sessions: 3Keys continued hosting Financial Keys sessions with Delta Community Credit Union (DCCU) at Phoenix House and Rosalynn Apartments. This series of classes is designed to equip residents with essential financial literacy skills, laying a foundation for long-term stability and success.

  • Cheers for a Cause 2025: Supporters, friends, and colleagues gathered on November 6 for the annual Cheers for a Cause fundraiser that directly funds programming and operational costs, benefitting hundreds of formerly homeless individuals across our Metro Atlanta portfolio.

We also shared the stories of two 3Keys residents’ resilience and how their lives have transformed from the time they received their keys to today, showing remarkable progress towards better mental, physical, and emotional health. Read about MD’s story of finding a path to stable health and employment and EG’s story of emerging from deep depression.

The annual report also provides an overview of our grants and philanthropic funding, a partner spotlight featuring PMC (Proactive Management Consultants), and a summary of our social media and website stats.

We hope you’ll take a few minutes to read our 3Keys’ 2025 annual report for a holistic view of our work that supports nearly 500 individuals with supportive services across our six properties each year. Follow our work throughout the year on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

EG’s Story: Emerging from Severe Depression https://www.the3keys.org/egs-story-emerging-from-severe-depression/ Sat, 25 Apr 2026 08:51:38 +0000 https://www.the3keys.org/?p=4863 Our staff at 3Keys meets our residents where they are in order to provide the best possible housing and supportive services. Resident stories, like EG’s below, make the work meaningful and rewarding. Together, we are working to end chronic homelessness. Here is EG’s story:

When EG arrived at 3Keys, she had almost no hope. The trauma of homelessness had left her withdrawn and immobilized by severe depression. She rarely left her room and barely ate. Staff began with small, steady acts of care – knocking softly on her door, bringing food from the pantry, and making sure she was drinking water. Over time, her depression deepened to the point that speaking became too difficult, and eventually she stopped talking altogether.

Refusing to give up, her case manager offered her a notebook and pen. For months, EG communicated only through handwritten notes. Each day, her case manager showed up – sitting with her, playing cards, drawing, and taking short walks – patiently building trust. Through those consistent, compassionate moments, EG began to believe she mattered. The notes became a pathway to progress: first small goals like stepping outside each day, then larger ones like addressing her mental health. Staff accompanied her to appointments at Grady 10 Park Place, where she received a full psychiatric evaluation, began medication for depression, and started therapy to process her trauma.

As her relationship with her case manager deepened, EG shared more of her story, including that she had a child. Then one day, after weeks of silence, she spoke. The sound of her voice brought the staff to tears. Today, EG is stable, participating in on-site activities, and working toward permanent supportive housing with the hope of reuniting with her son.
